My name is Will Cronan. My family and I moved to Truckee four years ago after I retired from the Navy SEAL Teams, and every day we are astounded by the natural beauty of this area. I was raised in Vermont, fathered by a man who recycled plastics, newspapers, and aluminum cans, and composted in the 1970’s & 80’s, when this was pioneering and fringe behavior.

After attending the Waste Expo and volunteering at the Compost Expo, it became obvious that contamination within the recycling and organic waste streams is a primary concern for operators. In response to this, I have implemented a service to make diverting materials for repurposing as easy as possible for consumers. These services include: Compost Concierge, collection of materials repurposed by private companies, merchandising sustainable products, and outreach on how to make more environmentally sound lifestyle choices.

There are a myriad of solutions to our society's disposable and single-use practices. The Truckee Recycling Center is poised to facilitate those solutions, while providing outreach and having fun protecting the awe-inspiring world we live in.
